Another wintertime gown

Here’s one more January-appropriate dress, although I made this back in October, to wear to talk at Pop!Tech. (That there is a video link.)

Specifics: it’s liberty Lantana, however I don’t keep in mind the pattern name — if you browse for liberty Lantana on eBay this always comes up. (Lantana is the winter-perfect cotton/wool blend. incredibly soft, well warm, as well as wrinkle-resistant. most likely my preferred liberty material type.) It’s the simplicity 2389 bodice with the (heavily modified) Burdastyle Heidi skirt.

For chillier weather condition I’ve been using this with a long-sleeved black tee shirts under it. as well as by “colder weather,” (sorry non-Californians) I indicate around low 50s F. below you can see the colorway — it’s mainly black, with a lot of blue-y grays and a bit warm taupe.

I utilized the extra-fat piping cord to make this piping. It’s extremely satisfying.

Here’s the zipper & pocket (also piped) in a washed out photo. (Honestly, #nofilter, my phone is just not that great.)

And the back, with my gown type at a jaunty (not to state off-kilter) angle.

I’ve taken a bit break from this pattern however it’s calling to me again. The bodice is most likely one of the most comfortable I’ve ever worn, as well as even those tricky-looking shoulders sew up easily. I’m believing the next version will most likely have a longer skirt (this one is knee length) as well as we’ll see exactly how that proportion looks. I have some a lot more Lantana …
